Research Logs
During the course of the search for my ancestral roots
and family history, I looked at a very large number of records, documents,
books, photos, and other sources of information. I learned early on that research of this type requires keeping a log of what I looked at, where I looked at it, and what I found there, if anything. I used a form specifically designed for that purpose that I obtained from a branch of the LDS Family History Library.
I decided to add my research logs to this site so that
if anyone in the future decides to pursue more research about this family, or
simply wants to see where I got a certain piece of information, they can get
that information from the logs. The
"sources" list (link on the Welcome page) has similar information,
but just for items I found related to our family. The logs show more, virtually everything I looked at, and
indicate whether they had useful information about our family or not, including
items in German where I could not judge their usefulness. The logs provide more information for a
serious researcher, and could save them from wasting time looking at sources I
had already looked at, especially those that are noted as containing nothing of
interest relating to our family.
Clicking on any link below will display an image of
that log page.
